DIY: Frozen Banana-Berry Peanut Butter Treats

Here's a simple and delicious dog treat recipe featuring peanut butter, banana, coconut oil and strawberries, perfect for pampering your furry friend. This recipe makes about 12 small treats, depending on the size of your mold or tray.

Ingredients:

  • 1 ripe banana

  • 4-5 fresh strawberries

  • 1/4 cup natural peanut butter (ensure it doesn’t contain xylitol, a sweetener harmful to dogs)

  • 1 tablespoon organic, unrefined coconut oil

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Fruit: Peel the banana and chop it into smaller pieces. Hull the strawberries and cut them into halves or quarters. Place both fruits into a medium-sized mixing bowl.

  2. Crush the Fruit: Using a fork or potato masher, crush the banana and strawberries together until you achieve a somewhat smooth mixture. A few small chunks are fine, as they add texture.

  3. Mix in Peanut Butter and Coconut Oil: Add the peanut butter and coconut oil to the bowl. Mix thoroughly until the ingredients are well combined, creating a creamy, cohesive blend. The coconut oil should be in liquid form to mix well; if it's solidified, gently warm it until it melts.

  4. Fill the Molds: Spoon the mixture into a silicone dog treat mold or an ice cube tray. Leave a small gap at the top of each mold to allow for expansion as the treats freeze.

  5. Freeze the Treats: Place the mold in the freezer and let the treats set for 3 to 4 hours, or until they are completely frozen.

  6. Serving: Once frozen, remove the mold from the freezer. Pop out each treat as needed to prevent them from sticking together if they thaw slightly. Store the remaining treats in the freezer until ready to use.

These tasty treats are a refreshing snack for your dog, especially during warm weather. Always supervise your pet while they enjoy their treats and keep portion sizes in mind to maintain a balanced diet!
